In 2016 the World Cup was cancelled by [[Zkhan]] and did not take place. In 2018 it returned as the "Team World Cup" under new management, but it is accepted as the successor to the old World Cup series.

The Pen Spinning World Champion is the winner of the most recent Pen Spinning World Tournament. As of early 2021 the reigning World Champion is i.suk from UPSB.

The title is also sometimes used to refer to Pen Spinning World Cup winners, but the World Tournament is considered the more difficult competition, as only a single spinner can hold the title.
