G3 MX (Writable version) is a retractable, single-sided variation of the G3 MX by Whizz. It replaces the fixed rear assembly with a click mechanism based on a Uni Laknock II or Uni Aqua Touch pen.[1][2]
Construction
Parts needed
- 1x Pilot G3 (barrel, tip and cap)
- 1x Uni Laknock II or Uni Aqua Touch (grip, tip, spring and clicker)
- SGM, Anyball or Profile grip
- Uni Lakubo or HGG ink tube
Text tutorial
- Disassemble the pens.
- Trim the margin beneath the click button until the G3 cap slides freely over it. Trimming the retractable part's nubs is optional.
- Cut the front of the Laknock barrel below its margin, with the tip installed.
- Assemble the tip and button parts and fit them into the G3 barrel without pushing beyond the former back-plug position.
- Cut a 0.2–0.3 cm section of Laknock II grip, then divide that piece into three longitudinal sections as shown in the tutorial. Remove the clip and excess plastic from the G3 cap, then place the grip section inside it.
- Assemble the retractable section and cap.
- Extend the ink tube as needed, flattening it 2–2.5 cm from its front end. Bend the spring and slide it over the tube.
- Put the tube assembly into the G3 barrel and screw on the tip.
- Add five grip rings over the tip and four over the cap for balance. An insert may be added to the barrel or cap.[3]
