The IM* Hybrid is a double-sided mod made by FPSB modder VoreTex after a request from Gollumsk8 to combine a Menowa* Mod and an Ivan Mod.

It became popular after Gollumsk8's participation in World Tournament 17 where he finished 2nd.

Construction

Parts needed

List from Penmodding.pm:[1]

  • 2x Anyball (grip)
  • 2x Pilot Dr. Grip HDG-50R (tips)
  • 2x Pentel Color Twin (big caps)
  • 2x unnamed Sailor sub grips (grips)
  • 2x optional metal rings (0.8 g each; 6 mm inner diameter, 11 mm outer diameter)
    • PEN’Z GEAR rings can substitute.
  • 2x Crayola SuperTips (barrels for a 17 cm Ivan-style base)

Text tutorial

  1. Empty both SuperTips barrels. Prepare a 17 cm Ivan-style base using one whole barrel with a cut SuperTips extension at each end.

  2. Cut each large Color Twin cap at the marked line, keeping 19 mm of its thinner section.

  3. File the inside of each cap until a Dr. Grip HDG-50R tip fits, then insert the tip.

  4. Cut a nine-ring section from the front of each Anyball grip.

  5. Stretch the Sailor substitute grips with pliers and fit them over the Color Twin caps. The source recommends the firmer substitute that feels more like plastic than silicone.

  6. Optionally insert one metal ring into each grip. The source uses 0.8 g rings with a 6 mm inner diameter and 11 mm outer diameter; PEN’Z GEAR rings can substitute.

  7. Fit a nine-ring Anyball section over each Sailor substitute grip, with its front end toward the cap’s clip side.

  8. Attach the completed caps to both ends of the Ivan-style base. Use tape for a secure fit and adjust the balance with tape if needed.
