The Belgian Pen Spinning Community or BPSC was the national community for pen spinners residing in Belgium. Originally created as the Belgian Pen Spinning Team or BPST, it transitioned branding to BPSC in 2008 with the launch of a new website.[1]
History
BPST
The Belgian pen-spinning community was first organized as the Belgium Pen Spinning Team (BPST)[2], founded by Trademark, Yogui and WestMyst on 27 December 2006. By June 2008 its public forum had grown to 299 registered members and more than 18,000 posts. Although it was still named a “team,” the forum already served the functions of a national community, with sections for learning, pen modification, trading, videos, battles and tournaments. It also experimented with multilingual discussion in French, English and Dutch.
Transition to BPSC
During 2008, BPST was succeeded by the Belgian Pen Spinning Community (BPSC). The precise launch date is uncertain: later accounts place the public transition in October or November, while archived member records show that the replacement forum existed in some form by June. BPSC eventually used `penspinning-be.com` and presented itself primarily through an English-language interface, while retaining multilingual rules and participation.
BPSC became one of the strongest smaller European boards. Its best team result came in the 2010 Pen Spinning World Cup. After qualifying fourth, the team of Ivabra, Littleboy, Knuckles, Gisele8, Kr4zy and Voltaic defeated GPC in the semi-final and finished second to Thailand’s THPSC.[3] BPSC also produced several collaboration videos, including BPSC 2nd, BPSC + THPSC and BPSC 3rd. A March 2011 archive of its forum records 384 members and 23,857 posts.[4]
Declining activity and integration with FPSB
Activity declined during 2011. The staff released BPSC Final in July as a farewell to the board’s active era, although the video description stated that it did not announce the immediate closure of the website. Belgian members increasingly participated with the French-speaking FPSB. Gisele8 and Ivabra were part of the FPSB team that won the 2012 World Cup.
BPSC nevertheless remained a separate competitive identity for several years. Blue, Gisele8 and Ivabra entered the 2013 World Tournament under BPSC[5], with Ivabra reaching the semi-finals. In the 2014 World Cup, Blue and Ivabra joined German and Spanish spinners in the GSB alliance, which finished joint third–fourth[6]. Only after this period was BPSC fully incorporated into FPSB. Thus late 2011 is best treated as the end of BPSC’s activity on the forum site, rather than the immediate end of the community identity itself.
