The F.G.S is a single sided mod made by Joey. Its name stands for "Frixion. G2. Signo". This mod was designed to make the most of every part used.
Construction
Parts needed
List from the Taco's post [1]:
- x1 Pilot G2 (Everything)
- x1 Pilot Frixion Colors (Everything except white barrel)
- x1 Signo DX (Everything except cap)
Additional Items
- 2 inserts (9.6cm x 2.5cm and 3cm x 2.7cm)
- Tape
Text tutorial
Preparation
- Cut the "dome" part of the Uni-Ball Signo DX backplug.
- Cut the "Screw thread" section from the front of the Uni-Ball Signo DX body.
- Sand the front of the Uni-Ball Signo DX barrel (until the Pilot G2 barrel fits snugly onto it).
- Remove the ink from both the Pilot G2 and Uni-Ball Signo DX, then disassemble the ink tubes.
- Cut the Uni-Ball Signo DX ink tube to ~1.7–1.75 cm from the back.
- Cut the Pilot G2 ink tube to 2.4 cm from the back, then replace the plastic stopper.
- Cut the Pilot G2 clicker to 1 cm.
- Cut the Pilot G2 grip to separate the flat section.
- Cut the Pilot G2 barrel to 3 cm (from the screw thread part)
- Cut the front barrel of the Pilot G2 to 2.5 cm (from the thread)
- Sand the bump/raised part of the Pilot G2 cut front. Sand the flat part as well.
- Sand the bump on the front part of Pilot Frixion Colors.
- Attach the plastic piece from the cap on the front part of Pilot Frixion Colors, then cut it (with the tip of the front still in the plastic piece)
- Cut the front plug of Pilot Frixion Colors to 2.5cm (from the "interior side")
- Cut the G2 spring in half
- Drill a small hole into the Pilot Frixion Colors plastic piece
- Plug the leftover Pilot G2 inktube in the Pilot Frixion Colors cap then cut it.
Assembly
Front side
- Place the cut Pilot G2 section over the front of the Uni-Ball Signo DX barrel.
- Add both inserts: the first in the body and the second on the front section.
- Put the Uni-Ball Signo DX tip on the sanded part of Pilot G2 body.
- Wrap tape around the Uni-Ball Signo DX ink tube until the Pilot G2 ink tube fits over it, then assemble.
- Remove the Uni-Ball Signo DX tip, then wrap some tape around the Pilot G2 inktube. Put the tip back in.
- On the opposite side of the tip, put the cut Uni-Ball Signo DX backplug on the visible Pilot G2 nib.
- Place the Uni-Ball Signo DX backplug into the back of the Uni-Ball Signo DX body.
- Cover with the Pilot G2 non-flat part then the whole Uni-Ball Signo DX grip.
Cap side
- Put the Pilot G2 inktube cover in the back of the Pilot Frixion Colors cap.
- Put the Pilot G2 clicker inside the Pilot Frixion Colors cap. It should be assembled snugly.
- Put the Pilot G2 metal nib in the Pilot Frixion Colors plastic piece.
- Insert the Pilot Frixion Colors plastic nib into the hole in the Pilot Frixion Colors plastic piece. Then put the Uni-Ball Signo DX into it.
- Place one half of the Pilot Frixion Colors spring on the rubber piece from the cap, then twist the other half into the first half.
- Assemble in this order: Cut front plug of Pilot Frixion Colors < Rubber piece with spring < Metal nib package. Put all of it into the Pilot Frixion Colors cap.
- Add the flat part of the Pilot G2 grip to the cap.
- Attach the cap to the body.
