The 연필돌리기까페 (Pencil Turning Cafe) was the first pen spinning community created in Korea[1].
History
The Pencil Turning Cafe opened in 2001 and was hosted on the Korean Daum web portal, which provided various services to early internet users. Notably, Daum offered a forum service named Daum Cafe, which became pivotal in the creation of early Korean pen spinning communities like the Pencil Turning Cafe. The 'Cafe' name was 'pamspin', a play on the word 팸(pam) that was short for 'team' or 'family', as the community itself was organized into teams of pen spinners.
While other communities focused on innovation in the early days of pen spinning, the Korean spinners put their focus on imitating existing combos and tricks. New tricks from other communities would be shared and renamed, with the most proficient combos shown in a Hall of Fame. The videos were later used by Mr. LSC in the creation of PenDolSa 1st in 2003.
