Palm Spin

From Fen Spinner Wiki

The Palm Spin, also referred to as the single word Palmspin is a topspin trick where the pen turns on the palm. The normal of the Palm Spin is counterclockwise palm up.

History

The trick had existed since 1999 on Wrenn Micro Juggling website under his "Pencil Flipping" section[1], where it was referred to as the "Palm Rotation". Wrenn described performing what is now a Palm Spin reverse while using the thumb and pinky fingers to tap the pen to keep it turning.

Variations

Palm Spin -> FL TA

One of the earliest power tricks, originally invented by Polish spinner Rarka and then popularized by Spinnerpeem starting in 2008. In Poland it is known as the Rarka trick, while internationally it used to be known as Peemspin. It involves using a Fingerless Thumbaround to push a Palm Spin (typically Palm Spin 0.5) repeatedly, giving the appearance of a Palm Spin that never stops. Spinnerpeem used this trick extensively in the Pen Spinning World Tournament 2009[2], where he became World Champion.

Palm Spin -> FL Finger Around

Originally done with the index finger by Spinnerpeem and called "Pun new" in 2010[3], it works like the Palm Spin -> FL TA exception instead of using the thumb to continuously push the pen using an around, a finger is used instead. The trick is much less common for ring and pinky.
