Onyx Mod

From Fen Spinner Wiki

The Onyx Mod is a single-sided mod by Onyx-o7, combining the length of an RSVP MX with the weight of an MX².[1]

Construction

Parts needed

  • 1 HGG (barrel, grip, and ink tube)
  • 1 RSVP (cap, backcap, and grip)
  • 1 Uni-ball Signo DX tip
  • 1 SGM, Anyball, or Profile grip
  • An insert (approximately 8.5 × 2.5 cm)
  • PTFE tape[1]

Parts used for the Onyx Mod.

Text tutorial

  1. Remove the RSVP grip and place it inside the RSVP cap. Remove the HGG tip, grip, and ink tube for the initial fitting; keep these parts for later assembly. Remove the Signo DX tip. Cut three front cells from the Profile/Anyball grip.
  2. Saw off the screw-thread section from the front of the HGG barrel as shown in the tutorial, then sand the cut end. Check repeatedly that the Signo DX tip fits; PTFE tape is optional if the fit is loose.

  3. Remove the HGG barrel backplug and insert the paper insert. Add PTFE tape to the RSVP back screw section, fit the RSVP backcap with its grip inside, and tighten the joint so it does not move.
