Near Mx

The Near Mx is a single-sided mod by Near. It measures 21.5 cm and weighs 15–16 g.

Construction

Parts needed

• 1 Reynolds Gel’7 body
• 1 Reynolds 081 or 090 cap
• 1 Pilot Flexgrip Elite tip
• 1 Stabilo Junior felt cap
• 1 RSVP Normal, Mini, or Retractable cap
• 2 Pilot G2 grips
• Grip rings and an insert
• Reusable putty

Text tutorial

1. Fit the Flexgrip Elite tip to the Reynolds 081/090 cap, then screw that cap onto the Gel’7 body.
2. Slide a G2 grip over the Reynolds cap and add grip rings. Fit additional grip over the rear portion of the Reynolds cap as shown in the illustrated tutorial.
3. Wrap one or two layers of the insert around the Stabilo Junior felt cap, then press it into the RSVP cap.
4. Cut the felt cap 1 cm from where it emerges from the RSVP cap. The original instructions do not specify which side to remove or how much should remain exposed; confirm the intended cut before proceeding.
5. Place one or more grip rings on the striped Gel’7 section. Add a small section of grip over the exposed Stabilo cap and fit the Stabilo/RSVP assembly at the front of the Gel’7.
6. Balance the mod with the RSVP end heavier; add reusable putty inside the Gel’7 body as needed.
