More actions
Guitrum's Retractable Mx is a retractable mod by Guitrum, measuring 18.5 cm and weighing about the same as an MX. It uses an insert and is difficult to build.[1]
Construction
Parts needed
- 1 RSVP (all parts)
- 1 HGG (grip, tip, and backplug)
- 1 Bic Clic Stic mechanism and spring
- 1 toothpick
- An insert and adhesive as needed[2]
Text tutorial
- Disassemble the pens as shown in the tutorial photographs and keep the listed parts.
- Disassemble the Bic Clic Stic mechanism. Trim its upper end until the inner gap is visible, then continue cutting to the gap. Trim its bottom until the inner teeth are visible, then cut to leave a small space below the teeth, about 1 cm long.
- Make a hole in the RSVP back cap and push the trimmed Bic mechanism into it; glue it if needed.
- Trim the RSVP plastic tip enough for the ink tube to pass through. Screw on the HGG tip and fit the HGG grip.
- Modify the RSVP ink tube as shown; its length can vary. Trim or file the wider parts of the back cap so the cap can slide while clicking.
- Replace the modified ink tube and add the insert. Screw the back cap back on, checking that the toothpick is stable in the mechanism.
- Cut the RSVP grip as shown and remove a vertical grip strip from its lip side. Place the remaining cut grip inside the cap.
- Cut the HGG backplug and push it into the RSVP grip inside the cap.
- Wrap tape around the end of the Bic mechanism. Fit the RSVP cap so it connects with the base of the RSVP back cap and clicks properly.
