Buhryan Mod

Buhryan Mod is a mod by Buhryan. Its construction joins a Crayola SuperTips barrel to a Dong-A Comssa cap and back plug, with layered Sailor, Dr. Grip and G3 cap assemblies.

Construction

Parts needed

• 1 Dong-A Comssa (cap and back plug)
• 2 Pentel Hybrid Gel Grip pens (2 tips and 1 grip)
• 1 Pilot Japanese Dr. Grip Shaker grip
• 1 Uni-ball Signo tip
• 1 Crayola SuperTips barrel
• 1 Pilot G3 (cap and tip)
• 1 Sailor Innovation Gel, Gel Wave or Duraflash grip
• 1 Pentel RSVP ink tube
• Paper, adhesive and tape

Text tutorial

1. Glue one HGG tip to the Signo tip in the order Signo < HGG. Cut the Sailor grip into four sections of 3, 3, 3 and 2 rings. Cut 2 cm from the front of the Dr. Grip and 1 cm from its back.
2. Build the front on the Comssa cap: put three rings of Sailor grip on the cap, then the 2 cm Dr. Grip section over it. Screw the joined HGG and Signo tips onto the Comssa cap.
3. Put the G3 tip inside the G3 cap.
4. Wrap the HGG grip in paper, slide it over the Comssa back plug, and tape the back plug. Fit the wrapped grip into the G3 cap.
5. Arrange the rear stack in this order: three Sailor rings, a 2 cm Dr. Grip section with its lip facing up, then two Sailor rings.

6. Cut about 5 mm from the tip end of the SuperTips barrel and screw the second HGG tip onto that end.

7. Shorten the RSVP ink tube by about 4 mm; do not cut off more, or it may rattle. Tape its cut end, then add tape to the front until it is level with the rest of the tube.

8. Put the rear end of the ink tube into the Comssa back plug, seat the plug in the SuperTips barrel, and fit the prepared Comssa cap onto the front.

Construction notes

The original tutorial contains two discrepancies. It specifies one Dr. Grip donor, with 2 cm cut from the front and 1 cm from the back, but requires a 2 cm piece in each cap stack. Whether a second donor is needed is unclear. It also specifies Sailor grip sections of 3, 3, 3 and 2 rings, although the cap stacks use only 3 rings on the Comssa cap and 3 plus 2 in the G3 cap. One 3-ring section is therefore unaccounted for.
