The Pen Spinning World Cup 2022 was an international team-based competition held from June 25th, 2022 to September 3rd, 2022[1].
History
Unlike the Pen Spinning World Cup 2020, which allowed teams from specific recognized communities, WC22 allowed any team comprising of spinners from any community to sign up. This resulted in some of the strongest and weakest teams of any World Cup entering the competition. Notably, Final Boss and The Five Fingers of Sublime Pen were international teams with spinners hand-picked for competitive advantage. However, Team ๐บ๐ธ๐น๐๐ท (nicknamed "Team Flower") comprised of spinners from the beginner to intermediate range, and caused controversy when their manager started arguing that the team deserved higher scores than one of the highest-scoring teams in Round 1. The team came last place in Round 1 and the manager's comments were not supported by the rest of his team members.
The final round exhibited multipen combos from V 0 1 D (Final Boss)[2], TUv4 (Eastern Reunion)[3] and Padrace (The Five Fingers of Sublime Pen)[4]. This came as a surprise due to the technique's rarity in the prior rounds of the competition.
Scoring System
The competition had 7 themes, split into two main categories that shared point allocations, with one special theme, the Duet.
The combos for Wipers are required to contain 80% wiper tricks, and 1P2H combos are required to contain 50% 1P2H linkages.

Tournament Structure
The first round consists of a "Battle Royale" with the 5 non-substitute members of the teams all submitting one combo each to a Collaboration Video that is edited by one of the team members. This round is judged on the Duet category, and the rankings compiled so that the top 8 teams pass to the next round.
For the remaining 3 rounds, single elimination matches are made where 3 themes are picked at random from the 6 main themes, and a duet theme of two spinners is present every round. The Duet is worth 2 points, and the remaining categories worth 1 point. The team that wins the most points between the 4 battles proceeds to the next round until a champion is determined.
