Each theme consisted of two rounds. The top four competitors in Round 1 advanced to the final round, and the number one competitor in Round 2 became the champion of that theme. Videos had to begin before the first trick and end after the last trick, without splicing or intentionally removing frames. Hands and pen movement had to remain visible, with adequate brightness, resolution, framerate, camera stability, and zoom. Filters, color grading, and other visual edits that made evaluation difficult were not permitted.
