The Menowa* Air G3 is a personal mod made by Menowa*. The name isn't official as Menowa* never gave it a name.
Construction
Parts needed
Parts list from Menowa*'s live stream[1]:
- 1x G3 (barrel, grip and backplug)
- 1x Uni-Ball Air (cap)
- 1x Muji Hexagonal MP (tip)
- 1x Pilot G2 (barrel and grip; two donors for a two-colour grip)
- 1x Kacogreen (tip and clicker)
- 1x RSVP Stylus (backplug)
- 1x Pilot Hi-Tec-C (tip)
- 1x Pilot Dr. Grip (metal ring; optional)
Additional Items
- Tape
- An insert (or multiple)
- Bic barrel and RSVP cap (optional, for restoring the G3 grip’s shape)
Text tutorial
Preparation
- Disassemble the G3, retaining its barrel, grip and backplug. If the grip stretches during removal, the translated tutorial recommends leaving it on a Bic barrel under an RSVP cap for one day to shrink it back.
- Prepare the G3 front and sand only until the G2 barrel fits. A clear G2 barrel with an insert needs more clearance than a Fashion G2 barrel.
- Cut the G2 barrel to 3.9 cm from the threaded end, or 4.3 cm for the version without a Dr. Grip ring.
Front assembly
- Fit the optional Dr. Grip ring over the Kacogreen tip, thick side toward the G2 barrel, then screw the tip into the G2 threads. Keep the Kacogreen tip threads intact.
- Fit the G2 barrel assembly onto the G3 front.
- Stack the Hi-Tec-C tip and ball-free RSVP Stylus backplug over the Kacogreen tip.
- Cover the front assembly with the G2 grip. For a two-colour grip arrangement, retain two extra rings on the smooth G2 section so the tip stays in place.
Rear cap
- Push out and retain the Kacogreen clicker.
- Fit the Muji Hexagonal mechanical-pencil tip onto the clicker, then insert the clicker into the retained G3 grip as pictured.
- Push this assembly into the Uniball Air cap, seating the Muji tip in the cap’s internal cylinder. Cut and smooth the cap clip.
- Fit the Air cap to the G3 rear with the G3 backplug retained to prevent rattling.
