Pen Modding or Pen Modification is the craft of modifying existing pens or other materials to improve their aesthetic or spinning qualities. In more recent years Commercial Mods as well as handmade mods have been made that do not use any pen parts at all, but are still considered 'Pen Mods'.
There is a long history of modifications made to pens, with the modern pen modding community starting with Kam in the early 2000s.
