PPP

The Portal Polskich Penspinnerów or PPP (English: Polish Pen Spinning Portal) was the principal Polish-language Pen Spinning Community. Founded in 2006, its forum served as Poland's central hub for learning tricks, publishing videos, organising meetings and tournaments, developing pen modifications, and trading pens and parts.

PPP's most notable international team result was third place at the Pen Spinning World Cup 2008. The forum remained online into the 2020s, but had largely become an archive of the community's earlier activity.

History

Formation and Early Forum

PPP was founded by the users Dante and Kmibar on 28 April 2006. The date is independently supported by the community's PPP - 1st Birthday Video, released exactly one year later on 28 April 2007. The oldest surviving forum material includes posts dated 15 November 2006, among them Dante's Fingerpass tutorial and Kmibar's Pen Trading Partners thread.

The early board already combined instruction, video sharing, pen modification and general discussion. Hakan released an official PPP trailer on 23 January 2007, followed by the first-birthday video in April. By the first available Wayback Machine capture on 11 October 2007, the board reported 15,582 posts, 724 topics, 394 registered users and 6,244 visits. It also linked to a portal, PSPedia, IRC, an album and a shoutbox. The forum's principal sections covered tricks, member videos, modifications, trading, site affairs and an off-topic area.

PPP began pursuing mainstream exposure during this period. In September 2007 Dante coordinated a recording for TV4's programme Happy Hour. Zaliwaja, Geno, Aragon and Przemo took part, demonstrating tricks including ThumbAround, Fingerpass and Charge; the short feature was broadcast on 15 October 2007. The same discussion records an early plan to direct website advertising income toward prizes for the first Polish Championship in 2008.

Rapid Expansion

The community's activity expanded sharply during 2008–2010. PPP launched the first Mistrzostwa Polski w Pen Spinningu (Polish Pen Spinning Championship) in 2008. Michał Tomański became the first Polish champion and was later described as one of the pioneers of the discipline in Poland. Cienki won the 2009 championship, while the forum's discussion of the event shows organisers debating brackets, judging, sponsors and prizes.

Internationally, PPP made its strongest World Cup showing in 2008. The team of Rarka, Thelian, Gumix89, Przemo, Zaliwaja and Mikul advanced to the semifinals. After losing 0–3 to JEB, PPP defeated GPC 2–1 in the third-place match and finished third overall. PPP later placed tenth in the 2010 qualification round, two positions short of advancing to the eight-team main stage.

The board also developed an offline culture through regular city meetings. Kraków, Łódź and Warsaw were among the main centres. A Kraków summer meeting in June 2008 drew a sizeable group and included an informal live tournament; the seventh Kraków meeting later used a 143-seat conference room at the Jagiellonian University. The third Łódź meeting in March 2009 listed 26 confirmed attendees.

Community identity was reinforced through member-designed projects. In 2008 Vodka won a vote to design an official PPP insert, and Pari organised a successful order of PPP-branded wristbands after the idea arose in the forum shoutbox. On 5 July 2010 Pari announced Pens Factory, a Polish specialist shop offering pens, parts and modification supplies.

By 27 July 2010 the forum reported 113,310 posts, 4,781 topics, 2,718 registered users and 975,346 visits. Its structure had become much more specialised: separate sections existed for tutorials, media, modifications, shops, auctions, group orders, trading reputation and numerous competition formats. Community services included IRC, video chat, RSS, PSPedia and Pens Factory. An English-only Foreigners section allowed non-Polish users to participate.

Established Community

PPP continued to combine competition, education and video production in the early 2010s. Gibki became the first documented two-time Polish champion, winning in 2011 and 2012; he had begun spinning on 23 May 2009 and described losing his first championship appearance to the reigning champion Cienki by one point. Buła won the 2014 Polish championship. Championship sections or announcement threads also survive for 2013 and 2016, showing that the national event continued beyond the best-documented winners.

In the Pen Spinning World Cup 2014, PPP entered Gibki, Maksym, Precel, Robbin, Silus and Tmkk. The team qualified eighth. In the group stage it lost 0–3 to JEB, defeated the combined GPC/SPSC/BPSC team 2–1 through individual wins by Gibki and Precel, and lost 1–2 to UPSB, with Tmkk winning PPP's technical battle. PPP did not advance from the group.

On 23 August 2014, Michał Tomański and Daniel "Precel" Stradowski represented Poland at an in-person international championship in China. They later discussed the event, training and equipment on Polish Radio Czwórka.

By 14 February 2015 the board reported 171,430 posts, 6,905 topics, 6,161 registered users and more than 2.08 million visits. Its record simultaneous attendance was 170 users on 11 September 2010. The forum had been consolidated into sections for help, articles, tricks, community news, annual awards, meetings, teams, media, battles, modifications, trade and an archive. Annual community TOP awards are visible for 2008–2012 and 2014, with a later edition for 2016.

Later Years and Archival State

PPP activity continued after the forum's peak. Official or community-backed projects included Pen of Destiny for SpinFest 2016, a fifth PPP Promo recruitment in 2017, a Polish pen-spinning vlog in 2018, Memories 1st in 2020 and the ninth PPP Christmas Collaboration in December 2020. Polish Championship threads are also visible for 2018, 2019 and 2020.

By the 2020s, normal discussion on the old forum had become sparse and much community activity had moved elsewhere. The 20 August 2025 archive snapshot reports 166,781 posts, 7,373 topics, 8,525 users and more than 6.23 million visits, but its newest topic lists are dominated by automated spam from 2024–2025. The lower post count than the 2015 snapshot indicates that material was removed or pruned, so the totals should not be read as a continuous activity counter. The remaining board nevertheless preserves an unusually detailed record of Polish pen spinning from the late 2000s onward.

Research and Education

Instruction was central to PPP from its earliest surviving posts. The forum maintained beginner and advanced sections, a trick database, tutorials, articles and interviews. PSPedia was linked from the board by October 2007. A widely referenced learning-order guide by Gildor, Proponowana kolejność nauki trików, organised fundamentals, hybrids and more advanced development into a suggested progression.

Pen Modification and Trade

The pen and modification forums became a major practical resource. Tutorials documented Polish and international mods, including Pari's 2008 Buster Cyl tutorial and Mikusek's D.S.one Pirat. The original Pen Trading Partners topic grew to thousands of replies and more than one million views. Dedicated shops, auctions, group imports and a reputation system helped members obtain parts that were otherwise difficult to buy in Poland. PPP also held Micro Modders 2010, a small modification-building competition.

Teams

PPP hosted team subforums and team-produced collaboration videos. Teams visible in the archive include Fingers' Artist, Jedi Academy, Training Team, TOL, TSG, WawSpin, DG and Spin Academy. Gibki described Fingers' Artist—associated with Fuco, Maniek, Szajbon, Gildor, Fenix and Pari—as a major early inspiration.

Meetings and Outreach

Local meetings were a lasting part of PPP culture. The archive's meeting section contains more than 400 topics by 2025, covering recurring gatherings in Kraków, Łódź, Warsaw and other cities. These meetings ranged from informal park sessions to hired university rooms and often produced meeting videos or small live battles. PPP members also taught the hobby publicly. Michał Tomański led a 70-person beginner workshop at Slot Art Festival 2016. Rarka, Pari and Buła appeared on TVP1's children's programme Teleranek in May 2016.

Collaboration Videos

PPP produced numbered promotional videos, anniversary releases, seasonal collaborations and joint projects with other communities. The forum index records the following major releases:
