The STA Gear is a double-sided mod made by JEB spinner Menowa*. He used it in his JapEn 15th and 2020 combo. His version in JapEn 15th is slightly different as it has an outsert.

- x1 STA Aquarelle (barrel)
- x2 Pentel Fitline (backplugs)
- x2 Pen'Z Gear (2 Caps, 2 Metalring)
- x2 Nitom Stalogy (Backplugs (long type))
- x2 Pilot Dr. Grip (Metal ring)
- x2 Pilot SuperGrip (Grips)
- x2 Dong-A Anyball (Grips)
- x4 Black o-rings
- x4 White o-rings

Text tutorial
- Empty the STA barrel.
- Trim 9 mm from the shaft end of each Fitline backplug, as shown in the creator’s before-and-after photograph. Retain the ribbed section and the remaining shaft.
- Fit one PEN'Z GEAR metal ring to each PEN'Z GEAR cap, then insert the cap into a cut Fitline backplug.
- Fit a Dr. Grip metal ring around each Stalogy backplug and insert it into the outer end of the PEN'Z GEAR cap.
- Fit a complete SuperGrip grip over each cap assembly, smooth end towards the barrel. Overgrip its striped end with at least seven Anyball blocks.
- Fill the exposed gaps around each Fitline/PEN'Z GEAR joint with narrow grip rings.
- Fit a further 3 mm grip section around each Fitline connector.
- Repeat the assembly for the other end, then fit both connectors into the STA barrel. Add an optional insert if the STA barrel is transparent.
